A 'Street' can be considered the microcosm of society and multiple streets constitute a City, the macrocosm. The various problems and anomalies of society presently seen such as rampant non-communicable diseases (diabetes, cardiac issues, cancer and so on), gender violence, child abuse, crime, etc., continue unabated and actually on the increase. The current form of democratic governance is worn-out, vulnerable and sans focus, sadly veering towards populism, crony capitalism, and fear psychosis; thus unable to address the various social problems in a lasting way.

Apathy abounds and there is almost total disconnect between the youth in schools and colleges and the existing governance system. In fact most educated youth steer clear of anything relating to governance. Because of this disengagement, mismanagement and corruption abounds at all levels and remedial measures seem grossly inadequate. Grass-root level social leadership is lacking with the result there is no one to give leadership.
